John Ashworth was born in Lancashire in 1963, but from there lived in a mixture of places from and Lagos in Nigeria, to Stonyhurst College and Cambridge University, to Malawi, to Kenya and Argentina. He has mainly taught in Secondary Schools, and for a large part of his life in a medium secure psychiatric hospital. His wealth of working has door-to-door sales for a satellite TV company, Maths teacher, working in an school for autism. Chauffeur punting, white good delivery, teaching English as a foreign language and shoe-shining.
As well as writing poetry he paints, writes novels and is interested in the physical world.
He also enjoys making funny sketches (google Top Pudding TV) and writing and sometimes illustrating children’s stories, He is a keen language learner and a cook.
John currently woks in the Pathology department in Cambridge University.
In 1986 he married Sheenagh, a teacher, musician, painter and linguist. They have two daughters Nicola and Natalie.
John currently enjoys a full life of teaching, writing and painting and is based in Cambridge.
